How is MPG calculated?▼
MPG (miles per gallon) = Distance (miles) ÷ Fuel used (gallons). For example, if you drove 300 miles and used 12 gallons, your fuel economy is 300 ÷ 12 = 25 MPG. For the most accurate calculation, fill your tank to the brim at the start, drive normally, then fill again and record how much fuel you added and how far you drove.
What is L/100km and how does it relate to MPG?▼
L/100km (liters per 100 kilometers) is the metric equivalent, showing how many liters of fuel are consumed per 100km traveled. Unlike MPG, lower is better. Conversion: L/100km = 235.21 ÷ MPG. So 25 MPG ≈ 9.4 L/100km. Most of the world outside the US uses L/100km.
