Square Footage Calculator

For a rectangle: Length × Width = square feet. For a triangle: (Base × Height) ÷ 2. For a circle: π × radius². For irregular shapes, break them into rectangles and add the results.

Multiply square feet by 0.0929 to get square meters. Or divide by 10.764. For example, 1,200 sq ft × 0.0929 = 111.5 m². The reverse: multiply square meters by 10.764.

Add 10% for standard rooms with straight walls. Add 15% for diagonal cuts or herringbone patterns. Add 15–20% for rooms with many angles or irregular shapes. Always buy extra — matching dye lots later can be difficult.

In the US, finished livable area is measured from interior walls, typically excluding garages, unfinished basements, and exterior walls. Methods vary by region and realtor — always verify listing claims with your own measurements or an appraiser.
